More Expensive for Schwarzfahrer

The fines for riding without a ticket on the subway and other means of public transport in Berlin can rise sharply.

If the public transport company BVG are to decide, the fine will rise from 40 to 60 euros. For repeat offenders the fine will rise to 120 euros.

An increasing problem for the BVG is people who is warning each other for ticket controls on the internet, making it harder to catch free riders.
